Embedding a Video on your Website

More and more people are uploading their video clips to share with the world to the web. While obviously there is a lot of “junk” out there, there are also some valuable video clips that can be incorporated into your lessons. I have shown videoclips from Diego Maradona’s goal in the World Cup of 1986 to the Panama Canal to Machu Picchu to enhance the cultural studies in my Spanish class. One of my students’ favorite clip though is the Berlitz Commercial of a German coast guard and the importance of learning a foreign language.

In order to embed the video into your classroom webpage or blog:

  • Go to Google Video
  • Search for and preview a video
  • Click on “Share this Video” button in the right column
  • Click on “Embed HMTL”
  • Copy and paste the code google gives you into your html page
  • Upload your html page to your host.

Enjoy sharing relevant videos with your class.
