Cell Phones and Podcasting

Not only can you record podcasts using your cell phones voice recording capabilities or a call in line, but you can now use your cell phone to listen to any podcast.

I found out about a free service called FonPods

Put away your iPod and MP3 player, F?npods transforms your cellphone into a mobile entertainment and information system. F?npods is a free, on-demand service that brings podcast listening to any phone. There’s nothing to buy and no computer downloads to worry about.

    • Listen to podcasts anywhere, anytime!
    • No additional purchases or equipment are needed.
    • Listen to select podcast favorites instantly — no tedious computer downloads or software plug-ins are required.
    • Sign up and create your own custom podcast program list.
    • Upload your own podcasts to the F?npods catalog.

I tried the service out by registering and entering the Langwitches Podcast RSS feed. Then I called the mentioned phone number with my cell phone and had the choice of which Langwitch Podcast I wanted to listen to. I picked the latest one and immediately the podcat started.

WOW ! All in all this took less than a minute to register and start listening. What a great alternative for teachers or students who do not own an MP3 or when you can’t get to a computer to sync your iPod.
