Uploading and Sharing Videos with your Students
I am constantly finding some great videos on Google Video or YouTube, but I am hesitant to share them with my students. I can’t take them directly to these sites, because at any unsuspecting moment an inappropriate video, title, advertisement or comment might pop up on the screen. I am also hesitant to upload a video that I took in school to such a site if my students are featured.
There is a new feature from Goolge Video that allows you to choose to upload your videos as “unlisted”, making it not searchable.
If you have a video you’d rather not share with the entire world, you can choose to restrict access to it by marking it as “unlisted”. Similar to an unlisted telephone number that isn’t available in public phone number databases, videos that have been unlisted are not accessible through Google Video search results. This option is especially useful for family videos. Just set your video to “unlisted” and email the link to your family and friends.
