There are so many wonderful presentations still waiting for me to discover at the K-12 Online Conference. I keep telling myself, that it is OK to go through them one by one in my own time and not feel (imaginary) pressure to see and hear them all before the conference is officially over on November 4th.
It is a similar feeling for me when I am at the beginning of a book, far enough into the story, characters and plot, to know that I will enjoy reading it, but not too far enough into it yet, that I am getting this sneaky desperate feeling “I will never be at this point again, when I have this great story still ahead of me”. After I finished reading that book, I will never read it again for the first time. So maybe I can step back just a little and enjoy this time, when I still have so many great presentations, stories, ideas, opinions, tips, recommendations, and characters in front of me.
This the little “routine”, I have worked out regarding the presentations. I download each presentation off the Conference Agenda, then save them on my hard drive under Audio or Video. I also have added the conference feed (Week 1 & Week 2) to my iTunes. I use the built- in function of right clicking the file and choosing to “Mark as Played/Unplayed in order to keep track which presentation I have listen to or watched and which one I still want to get to.
I am also writing Draft Posts in my blog when I start listening to a presentation. Most of the time I run out of time to finish a presentation in one sitting. That way I can start writing notes on what I am hearing, think about those key points until I return to finish listening to the presentation. It seems to work for me to break the overwhelming task of ALL the presentations up without the time pressure. Write now I have about 4-5 different draft post (ready to finish or to get started) waiting for me.
