What am I Reading?

Using Flickr to Give Your Students a Voice

I was reading my daily dose of blogs, when I came across Beth Kanter’s Post: Participatory Campaign: The hold a sign meme. Beth is a consultant to non profits and individuals in effective use of technology.

As soon as I clicked my way through the Starbucks Photo Petition Pictures, I envisioned a project with  students.

How about they make a poster of a global or local issue that they care about? I also like the way some faces are incorporated creatively with the signs.
Upload the photos to Flickr and create a group (private for more control and security), where partner schools around the world could contribute with photos of their students’ voice. What a great way to get a conversation going about what seems to be important for different people, depending on geographic location or nationality.

Thank you, Silvia, for sharing. Your idea suggestion for a student prtoject is one I think my own students would really like. I’ll be on “spring break” for the next two weeks, and I hope to be able to play around with flickr, blogs, and such with respect to my classes.
