So far the students of our school have been “Going to Computers” as a resource for many years.
In an attempt to shift technology from being taught in isolation to integrating it as a tool to complement the existing subject area curriculum, there is a need to move away from having the students being dropped off in the lab. This change includes the extension of the classroom learning environment to the area where technology tools are readily available to the teacher. The teacher would not leave this lab area during the classes’ scheduled time, but instead would use, with the help of the tech team, the technology as a tool to teach their curriculum.
In order to accentuate the shift in viewing technology from “Going to Computers” to “Technology as a Tool to Learn” … there needs to be a literal name change for the computer lab.
What are some of the names your school or district use for their Technology Planning Time and Lab Space?
We have come up with the following names:
- Tech Link
- Tech Connect
