AlphaSmarts
Tomorrow morning we will receive training on the AlphaSmart cart that my school has purchased. I will try to blog the training, if I am able to bring in my laptop and get it hooked up to the network at school.
I don’t know too much about the AlphaSmart, since I have neer worked with one, not even held on in my hands yet, but my wheels are spinning about ideas how we can use that class set of them to best use it in order to alleviate the demands on the laptop cart (and set up time) and not turning the Tech Connect space into a data entry facility, when reports, essays, and research papers have to be typed up.
In order to get some basic ideas and background info, I google the term AlphaSmart and check out the top results… (see below interesting links), the next stop is technorati and see what other people wrote in their blogs about these devices….( do not come up with any interesting blog post). My third stop is del.icio.us to look at some of the sites that others have bookmarked and tagged “AlphaSmart”.I also twittered a little blurb about my research and am hoping that maybe someone in the twittersphere will have some info about them and will twitter back an interesting comment, site or thought….(no response yet). Next stop is TeacherTube and YouTube in hope to find maybe a video clip by another teacher…(no luck)
I am also eager to find out how to use them in the hands of the lower elementary school students, since they might be easier to handle and less “delicate” than the laptops.
