technology

When technology fails… I can’t access the Internet to receive and send e-mails that I am waiting for or HAVE to respond to.

When technology fails… I call the ISP to let them know of the outage and they tell me, that everything is working properly. I must be on “our” end.

When technology fails… No connection for 3 (three/tres/drei/trois!!!!!) days… and it was on the ISP end.

When technology fails…
I can’t use web based tools, such as blogs and wikis, nor download podcasts.

When technology fails… I can’t access my Google documents, that another teacher and I are relying on for collaborative work.

When technology fails… Teachers in our school can’t record, update or send their grades to have their report cards printed that are due.

When technology fails… I have to go to a friend’s house (during school hours) to get Internet access, so I can upload grades for another teacher who has missed a deadline.

When technology fails… Mysteriously a program disappears from (only) one lab computer and the student can’t work on his project.

When technology fails… I feel like a ball in a Pinball machine, when I am running from one end of the school to another trying to answer “Why is this or that NOT working?”.

When technology fails… I feel like others and I want to say “It is not worth the trouble”.

When technology fails… I don’t want to deal with the unreliability.

When technology fails… I don’t want to have and use one more “backup plan”.

When technology fails… I have to stand in line at the gas station, because my debit card does not want to get accepted outside, but inside it works.

When technology fails… I don’t remember why I like it in the first place.

When technology fails… I DO understand other teachers who moan and groan when I show them a new tech gadget.

All I am expecting to happen now… is the next technology to fail…

:(
