Upgading to WordPress Version 2.3

I have used the WordPress platform for all my blogs (home and school) for over a year. But I had never updated, mostly out of fear that the update would mess up the posts, comments and categories. Today I was reminded by Chris Craft of the need of an updated version. Some of the plug-ins , like the VoiceThread one, was just not working on the old WordPress.
So, I took the plunge with the Teddy Bears Around the World Blog. It was pretty easy (I guess everything is easy, if there are no complications). Just had to follow the directions from here.
- Backed up all the files
- Uploaded all the files in the root directory of the blog. Made sure that the config file was not updated
- Opened up the wp-content folder and only updated the index.php file
- Overwrote the wp-admin and wp-includes folder
- Went to the “wp-admin/upgrade.php” file and followed directions by clicking on “upgrade” and “finished”
Then it was already over. Everything seemed to be working ok. The Voicethread plug- in immediately started working. Chris Craft has a nice post on how to install the plug-in and use it.

I immediately saw some positive changes, like having new toolbar buttons. I know that I will like the paste from Word function, which drove me many times insane with all the formatting code that was added. The Spell check button will be appreciated by all the teachers at school as well.
Now, I just have to weed my way through all the upgrades of the 25 classroom blogs at school.
