Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for my grandmother, who took the time to write a cookbook for me of my favorite recipes from her. She gave the cookbook to me as a wedding present, five months before she passed away.

Now almost 20 years later, I still feel close to her when I read her handwriting and smell the food that she used to cook.

So on this Thanksgiving, a holiday that my grandmother and I (as a child) did not celebrate in Germany, I am thankful for this “Apfelkuchen” who brings back all the memories.
