I worked for Sea-Land (a global containerized shipping company) for many years. There were a few things we wrote in documentation that we had to be careful with for a global market. The date was something we always had to be careful of.

Whenever the students want to record something along the lines of "best school, state, country, fill-in-the-blank" on the Internet, I like to take the opportunity to reinforce our national/global audience. It's something they're not used to thinking about.

I really enjoyed your post.

Great post! You would make a wonderful Canadian (or is that being culturally stereotypical?). As an Anglophone (minority) in a Francophone society, one becomes very aware of cultural sensitivities. It is no wonder that you have such an international following. All the best for even more in the new year. Salut et merci!

What a wonderful posting!

We all talk about globalization but have no real inkling of what that means in terms of the details of daily life. Even using a 24-hour clock is a stretch for non-military Americans.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll be sure to share this with my students in Current Events class.
