Learning how to Speak Native- Steve Dembo
Teachers, education, community, professional development and the way we collaborate with each other.
The educational community as a whole and the changes taht are happening. A profound impact how educators comunicate and collaborate online.
What is a Native? Natives can’t remember life without computers and internet. Grow up with CDs., DVDs. portable devices, connections, impulsive, multitasking, instant gratification, extremely social.
Digital Immigrants: Anyone who can remember life before the Internet. Will be talking with a “digital accent”. Dial a phone number, tape a show on TV etc. We can use the technology effectively, but never at the same level as the natives.
In order to reach the digital native, Educational system has to change. Change in philosophy. Nike philosophy of just “Do It”.
Concept of Digital Native/immigrant is ~7 years old. Since then there has been some significant changes/movements
