Some New MAC Shortcuts (at least for me)
I am still a relative newbie to the MAC (converted almost a year ago to a Macbook). So if you are a MAC pro, don’t even read further. If you are a newbie yourself, you might be interested in the following shortcuts that I learned of :
- FN-Delete
- will allow you to delete from your cursor on forward. I missed that function from the PC (backspace vs. delete)
- CTRL and two finger mousepad scrolling
- will allow you to zoom into a specific area on your screen. (Thanks @GingerTPLC on Twitter for this tip)
- Command +
- will make your text larger
- Command -
- will make your text smaller
- Command -R
- Refreshes the page
When I learn of a shortcut, I usually make myself a note and stick it to the computer screen. I force myself to use the new shortcut every day if I want to start internalizing it.
What kind of shortcuts do you use on a regular basis? Can you contribute some cool new ones to my list?

THANK YOU for leaving a comment on my blog post “Did it…bought a Mac.” I hadn’t yet discovered the keyboard shortcut to zoom and there are many other things I learned from the tips you have posted on your blog. I’m having fun learning my way around on the Mac and your documented journey from PC to Mac will be very helpful!

My favorite Mac shortcut is activated via turning on Zoom under Universal access. It allows me to press + to zoom in on the screen and - to zoom back out.
Very useful on the computer projector when teaching or to read tiny print in Google Reader.

A couple that I’m always surprised people don’t know:
Command (Apple) + tab allows you to move among open applications.
Ctrl + tab allows you to move among live tabs in Firefox
Command + tilde switches open docs in Word
