I don’t think this is the lost generation coming up. This morning I had 5th graders enthusiastically writing reports on how roller coasters work, 4th graders finishing claymation movies, 3rd graders making a podcast about sound, Kindergarten doing an activity about Jack & Jill and the water cycle, 1st graders classifying different resources, 2nd graders dumping water on each other (it was their field day).

Kids get bored and angry when we cut them off from tools they know can make learning easier for them. My kids want to change the world – it is the outside voices saying your to poor, you don’t have a chance — not my kids voices. It is our job to drown out the negative voices, and give our kids the tools they need to change the world.

BTW – our robotics club is making solar lights and solar powered water features to decorate our butterfly garden. The garden committee will love it.

I do worry about Gen Y & Z people tho. They generally seem to be so self-centered and have such weak work ethics. I’m hopeful that this perception is just based on my own somewhat-limited experiences with these groups, but I dunno…
