PicLits- Inspired Picture Writing
Piclits came to my attention via Kevin Jarrett’s amazing NCS-Tech blog.
PicLits.com is a creative writing site that matches beautiful images with carefully selected keywords in order to inspire you. The object is to put the right words in the right place and the right order to capture the essence, story, and meaning of the picture.
I gave it a try and immediately felt the power that writing or expressing yourself gives you. The images you can choose from are inspiring and literally scream for words to be added to express YOU!

I am thinking of the possibilities to introduce our students to free writing. Even if you don’t have access to this site at your school, you could still collect Creative Commons images from Flickr or other sources and practice “Inspired Picture Writing”.

I absolutely love this site! This needs to be shared with all LA teachers. Best of all, it works great on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.
By the way, your PicLit made me smile; it’s quite charming!
Thanks for sharing!

Teachers Love SMART Boards
Jim: Thanks for the kudos regarding our site ( http://www.piclits.com).
How does one reach all of LA’s language arts teachers? We have begun to penetrate the Boise area by visiting with the teachers after school. The SMART board presentation is, if I don’t say so myself, a compelling demo as well as engaging. Students with any ADD can be captured and maybe get excited about “WRITING”. DRAG-N-DROP is very inclusive and kinda levels the playing field. Anyhow, cheers for the New Year and happy PicLit writing. May “PicLits” reach not only LA teachers but CA. as well.
Kevin Jarrett’s blog is great.
