Be an Image Contributor
I blogged about my quest for creating a media library for my elementary school students a few days ago. I want them to have the freedom of choosing images, audio and video to express their thoughts, writing and experiences in a different, non-traditional media in school.
Through the Whip Blog, I clicked my way though JDWilliams’ plea for collaboration help for his 6th grade students:
His 6th graders had recently watched the following video, that was shot entirely with a cell phone.
He wants to create a similar video using images of words, numbers or letters.
Here are the steps how you can participate:
How you can help
Take pictures of words, numbers or letters.
Tell other people about this that you think may be interested. Get more people involved. The more pictures we have, the more words we’ll have for stories. How you can share
3 Easy Ways to Share
1. Email me the pictures*: jdwilliams33 {@} gmail.com (just remove the spaces and {} signs)2. Upload them to your flickr account and tag them: 09picturestories
3. If you have them on a cell phone, you can usually send them as a text message to an email address. If you are not sure, check with your cellular service provider. Standard text/picture messaging rates would apply.
*If you email them to me, please be aware that they will be uploaded to flickr with a creative commons license.
I think it is a fabulous idea to create a collaborative media library. Since all of the images are under creative commons license, ALL students can benefit from Mr. Williams’ request.
Please consider taking out your cellphone next time you see words, numbers or letters and contribute.
As of now there are 59 images tagged “09picturestories“.

Let’s see if we can have hundreds of images before Northern Hemisphere students return to school from their winter break. Please re-blog, e-mail or re-tweet this request to your colleagues and PLN!

What an innovative idea. How can I do this in my classroom? Also, should be using any other tags? Like a the first letter in the word or something, keep it a little more organized.
