Since my laptop ran out of batteries, I was only able to use my iPhone to microblog about the session. Melanie Holtsman, still had plenty of juice left and did a great job in blogging the session on Live from the Creek blog.
Here are some of the responses to the tweet:
Tom Turner Ustreamed Dean’s presentation. Well worth listening to…
What did I take away from Dean’s session?
- We have to teach our students and own children how to manage their online identities. Don’t scare them that their potential college recruiter or future employer will google them, but instead help them build their online identity so they will say to them “PLEASE, google me”. They should be pround of the online content that they create.
- I liked Dean’s point about the school’s emphasis of building athletic and artistic stages, showcasing their students’ accomplishments in these areas. What about the ACADEMIC stages? Why is is so hard for schools to build these stages to showcase the academic accomplishments?

I especially liked the image on slide # 50 ” Your Research Team” on Dean’s Slideshow. Many people have the notion that the internet is this place you only look up information. They are missing a great (best) part of it.
