TCEA 2009- Infusing Global Awareness into the Curriculum
I am presenting a session titled “Infusing Global Awareness into the Curriculum” at the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) in Austin on Thursday, February 5th at 2:00 pm.
If you are attending, don’t be shy and say hello before or after the session.
At our school, …
- …faculty traveled physically half way around the world and took the school along … virtually… with blogs, podcasts, photos and videos.
- …we promote multi-cultural understanding and appreciation
- …we understand that cultural literacy is the ability to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one’s own culture and the cultures of others.
- …we transformed and opened the walls of our classrooms by infusing global studies, collaborating, and integrating into an existing curriculum.
- …we are learning from and working collaboratively with individuals representing diverse cultures, religions and lifestyles in a spirit of mutual respect and open dialogue in personal, work and community contexts.

Ms. Tolisano,
I found this site while beginning research for my dissertation. I am a doctoral student at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. I am interested in changes in global awareness of community college students who complete courses that have had a global component added versus those courses that do not have the component. This site is for elementary but it is so extensive. You obviously are very well immersed in global education.
My question–do you have a good source to help me define global education, global awareness, globalization and international education, international awareness and internationalization?
Continued success with your projects. Wow!
