the imperative to me is to connect teachers to students and students to outcomes first. Another niggle is to read or hear the orbital leadership questions “How do create 21st Century blah …”.

Standards for the 21st-Century Learner offer vision for teaching and learning to both guide and beckon our profession as education leaders.

In our first conversation we talked with Silvia Tolisano and her summer camp tech group in Jacksonville Florida, We began by telling each other a little about our schools. we learnt about their day and shared the times and organisation of ours. We then went on to talk about and ask questions about our surroundings and pastimes. We talked about food and pastimes and even snoopy.
Amazingly 3 of our small group had been to disney world in Florida, yet from the group in Florida no one had travelled the 2 hours to visit.

We had another great experience this week. A few of the children who stay at school for After Care joined me at 4:00pm to Skype a class in Jacksonville USA. The Jacksonville kids are doing a tour Around the World with 80 Schools. It was a real WOW experience for the boys as they saw and spoke to children so far away in real time. They caught a glimpse of life beyond our school or city. Most of our learners have not travelled outside of Port Elizabeth and few have access to computers or the Internet outside of school, so their general knowledge is a bit lacking. This morning when I checked my Twitter account there was a link to a video clip that Silvia had edited and uploaded for us which means the rest of the grade 3’s can view it next week.
