If someone is starting to follow me and I click my way through to their page and encounter that THEIR tweets are protected, I immediately check if they have a link to a blog or somewhere that tells me about their thoughts and what their work is about. If they don't I will not follow them back. IF they do and I am interested in more, I will send a request to follow them. @Tim
