Looking for 3 AP Teachers in CHINA

International Experimental Class

It’s been an unprecedented year in China as the Director of the International Experimental Program at Central China Normal University in Wuhan. We have piloted the most extraordinary education reform model in Chinese public education since the end of the Cultural Revolution and the re-opening of Chinese universities.

Our International Experimental Program at the No. 1 High School Affiliated with Central China Normal University (considered the top performing government high school in China) has become celebrated as the first government operated public school in mainland China to:

* Offer Chinese public school students an accredited US high school diploma, based on an AP curriculum
* Create an English-only “academy” model inside a large, 5,000+ student Chinese government public school
* Create a state-of-the-art, technology rich, globally open access classroom model based on the most advanced Western educational innovations
* Base curriculum design on the US-developed Common Core State Standards for implementation in a Chinese government public school, across all disciplines (language arts, math, science, and social studies)
* Partner with a US and Chinese university for providing 200 hours annually of teacher professional development that supports a blended Chinese-American teaching staff.
* Implement the first 1:1 iPad program at a Chinese government operated public school. All texts, learning resources, and activities are accessed via a wireless “Digital Learning Classroom,” using the iPad as the standard interface and a Challenge Based Learning methodology.

I am seeking 3 extraordinary native English-speaking teacher candidates to fill out the native English speaking staff for next year’s program.

Candidates must demonstrate a passion and commitment to advanced, project-based teaching methods with a heavy emphasis on using social media technologies in the classroom.

Candidates must be willing to make a 2 year commitment to the program.

Next year’s academic program will be staffed with 4 native English speaking teachers, 9 Chinese bi-lingual teachers using English-only resources, and over 12 classroom teaching assistants, including American teacher interns. All teachers and teaching assistants are required to create an English-only immersion environment for Chinese students.

Next year’s student cohort will include 120 Chinese high school students in Grades 1 and 2 (equivalent to US sophomore and junior student levels). The program is expected to grow to 500 students in 3 years, covering equivalent US grades 10-12, plus a “post-graduate” year option.

This experiment in teaching and learning is supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education and managed by Central China Normal University, the leading national university for teacher education. This extraordinary experiment is unmatched anywhere else in China and represents an aggressive step by national authorities to upgrade language teaching and experiment with curriculum reform that will better prepare Chinese students for next-generation university careers and a knowledge-based global economy.

Our students will not take the GaoKao, the Chinese national university entrance exam. They will only take the SAT, SAT II, AP, and TOEFL exams. Our students will not receive a Chinese high school diploma. They will only receive an equivalent US high school diploma.

Kindly circulate this information to anyone in your professional network who may be able to recommend or suggest highly qualified teacher candidates. Compensation and benefits information, along with other program details, will be provided upon request.

I sincerely appreciate your assistance.
