A couple of days, Dan McCabe mentioned me in a Tweet… I took a look at the conversation preceding the “challenge” to “sketch it”. 🙂
Below is the result and another example of the power of our network to collaborate, to add value and to share… an example of a network work- and learnflow.
Hi Ms. Tolisano, I believe that each one of those mentioned in School Leadership-Building a good C.U.L.T.U.R.E., are important for both teachers and students to be successful. As teachers, we need to be able to do that so that we can help our students grow and hopefully be able to do all of them as well.
Hello, Ms. Tolisano! I love how this blog post is such a fine example of the power of collaborative networking, as you said. It’s always nice to see the results. The acronym that Mr. McCabe shared is definitely brilliant. It’s so simple, yet it shows exactly what classrooms should be like. I’m gonna have to put this on the walls in my future classroom somewhere. Thank you for sharing!
Ms. Tolisano, This blog is powerful! I find this message on school leadership by Dan McCabe builds a good culture and share social interaction with all individuals learning everywhere. It will start a platform in my classroom to evaluate my students to respect, empower, understand, and respect each other.
The acronym is so creative! These are all important things that educators and students should be able to do. This is definitely an acronym that I am going to use in my future classroom. It is so inspiring!
This acronym is definitely powerful and motivating. This post also shows first hand how great it is to network and collaborate with others. This is something that I will definitely be using in my classroom.
Hey Ms. Tolisano, I am certainly a fan of the artwork you post with each blog post, a definite talent! It’s very cool how educators across the country are able to see your work and ask for your assistance within their own work.
That acronym is brilliant! I always learn something new from your posts. I also think that this will be one of the first things to go on the wall in my classroom, especially near my desk to remind me of it everyday.
I have enjoyed reading your blogs this semester! I always enjoy your artwork that you post with your blog. This acronym seems perfect!
I think this is an excellent example of how quickly ideas can grow through the use of social media. We now live in a time in which we can access these resources for inspiration, as well as create our own original ideas for all the world to see.
Hi Ms.Tolisano,
I absolutely love the artwork you designed to represent the acronym C.U.L.T.U.R.E.. Each one of the words is empowering for students and teachers whether it be students building up these values among their peers or students utilizing these values with their teacher. I loved how you used characters next to each letter to show different aspects of building that culture. It may have been mere coincidence that you drew one character next to certain letters or two or more characters next to the other letters. However, the vision that came to me was: to truly value and construct collaboration, understanding, love, trust, unison, respect and empowerment does not only become possible through a group. One must study and practice these values individually and truly believe them in their hearts to be able to empower others. Those cute characters simply represent that!
@Vicki,
Thank you for the compliment. It WAS as a coincidence the way I drew the characters. Thank you for sharing your observation and adding another dimension to the visual 🙂
Hi Ms. Tolisano and Mr. McCabe, what a great example of networking and collaboration you have. Once a great teacher told me ” my classroom does not have many rules, my only rule is respect because everything else comes from it”. I firmly believe that when we teachers collaborate with each other to understand our kids learning needs, we are showing them that we love them. Then, they can trust us, and united we can teach them and show them that by respecting each others differences we empower each other at the same time. I really like your idea. I am thinking of using that acronym in my classroom, I think kids will love it and we will create a great classroom C.U.L.T.U.R.E!
@Cecilia,
Thank you for commenting. Great that you will use this acronym to create a positive classroom C.U.L.T.U.R.E! I wonder, if unpacking the acronym with your students will add even more new layers and dimensions to the meaning?
Hi Ms. Tolisano and Mr. McCabe, those steps are exactly the components a school should have in order to create students engaged to create a successful society. As a teachers, it is our responsibility to model C.U.L.T.U.R.E with our example to our students, if we want a better society. There is a need to show students that collaboration must to take place in order to have a well organized and multicultural school environment.
Hi Ms. Tolisano,
Just stopping by to tell you–What a powerful statement!!! I currently work in the education field and every moment I have the opportunity to collaborate with a colleague, I walk out of the room feeling like I’ve accomplished so much. I will definitely share this with my grade level team so we can remember what’s really important. Everything else will fall into its place if we follow, C.U.L.T.U.R.E.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for the wonderful blog. I believe that in order to create a good culture people must be empowered because once a group is empowered it creates respect, when people respect each other it creates unity. Unity brings on trust and love. Love builds to understanding and then to collaboration. When all these things are in place the team becomes powerful and is able to work towards a common goal. As an educator I feel that the power of networking is the foundation for student success. Thank you for sharing the acronym 😉
Ms. Tolisano and Mr. McCabe,
It is amazing what can be achieve through social networking. The collaboration that took place in order to create such a powerful image and statement is amazing! The process in creating this image is a great example of C.U.L.T.U.R.E. You can read, see, and feel all the components of C.U.L.T.U.R.E. through this image. I love that together you were able to come up with such a powerful statement. I love how every letter has a character next to it. It definitely makes so much each easier for the little ones and even some adults! Every teacher should have this posted in their classroom and retweet as much as possible this image. In every great community, like our classroom, all these components must take place. In a learning environment, if your students don’t feel the love and feel like they can trust you the collaboration, the unity, the understanding, and the ability to empower each other will not be there. Definitely these layers have to be taught in every classroom in order to have a great community inside and outside the classroom. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
